See’s the shadow, six more weeks of winter.  That make sense to anybody?

I figure, they’re I assuming he’s returning to his hole because he’s afraid of his shadow.  “Eek! Scary flat monster! Run back inside!”

You could just as easily interpret this as “Pfft! Forget this, it’s cold! I’m goin’ back to bed…”
